 Below are key dates and events for prospective 8th grade students and their families interested in applying to Dare Early College for the 2026-2027 school year. 

8th Grade Teacher Meetings 

• December 3, 2025 - Manteo Middle School (during planning periods)
• December 4, 2025 - First Flight Middle School (during planning periods)

Recruitment Timeline Announcements | January 5-9

• Middle schools will send communication announcing student and parent meeting information. 

8th Grade Student Meetings 

• Date TBD - Cape Hatteras Secondary School (student and teacher sessions)
• January 14 - Manteo Middle School
• January 15 - First Flight Middle School

Parent Meetings 

• January 20 - Manteo Middle School
• January 22 - First Flight Middle School
• January 27 - Cape Hatteras Secondary School
• January 29 - Virtual

Dare Early College Open House | February 4 from 5 - 7 PM

• Prospective students and families are invited to explore our campus and learn more about student life through guided tours and informational sessions highlighting extracurricular opportunities.

Application Window | February 2 - March 2 

• The link to the online application will be posted on February 2 for interested 8th grade students to apply.

Candidate Interviews

• March 10 - First Flight Middle School
• March 12 - Cape Hatteras Secondary School
• March 18 - MMS
