College and Career Readiness

Charting Your Course with MAP

At Dare Early College, we believe success is about more than earning good grades. It is about developing the knowledge, habits, and character needed to thrive in college, careers, and life. That's why we focus on MAP:
  • Mastery
  • Agency
  • Presence

Mastery • Agency • Presence

MAP serves as a guide to help students monitor their progress, celebrate growth, and identify areas for improvement throughout the school year. Each week during Anchor Time, students will review their data, develop a MAP Goal, and commit to two action steps that will help them achieve their goal.

Am I learning?

Mastery means developing a deep understanding of what you're learning—not just completing assignments. Students demonstrate mastery when they consistently grow academically and can apply what they have learned.

Am I taking ownership?

Agency means taking responsibility for your own success. Early college students are expected to become independent learners who solve problems, communicate effectively, and advocate for themselves.

Am I fully showing up?

Being present means much more than simply being in the building. Presence includes three essential areas:
  • Attendance
    • Being at school consistently and arriving on time.
    • Students who attend regularly have more opportunities to learn, participate, and build relationships.
  • Engagement
    • Actively participating in learning.
    • Engaged students ask questions, collaborate with classmates, contribute to discussions, and stay focused during instruction.
  • Conduct
    • Demonstrating respect, responsibility, and integrity.
    • Conduct reflects how students contribute to a positive school community and prepares them for expectations in college and the workplace.
